The
Hellenic Community of Montreal will hold its annual Greek Festival at
the charming venue of Parc Jean-Drapeau. This enjoyable park will be
the setting for the 6th annual Hellenic Flame festival from August 8 to
August 10.
This
year’s theme will focus on Arcadia, the heart of the mountainous
Peloponnese region. The Arcadians are believed to be the oldest
inhabitants of the Peloponnese and have a rich culture of art and Greek
traditions. The Hellenes from this area now living in Quebec bring with
them the customs and have integrated them in their Quebec daily lives-
this includes the dances and of course, the food.
The
Hellenic Flame festival will highlight these traditions throughout the
festival activities with a special treat and direct from Greek Arcadian
region Clarinetist Kosta Kokkoris and singer Yiota Kokkoris who will
serenade the crowd with the sounds from the Arcadian mountains on
Saturday and Sunday.

Other activities
Friday night starting at 6pm - BOUZOUKI NIGHT by Absolute Disco
Saturday and Sunday - VASSILIS GALATIS
Local
talent will also be presented with popular groups within the Hellenic
Community. Popular folkloric groups will also be performing,
among which are:
The Hellenic Community Dance groups – Terpsihori and Orpheas
The Hellenic Community of Montreal choir
The
Hellenic Flame is free for all and will be open daily from Noon to 11
PM from August 8th to the 10th. This three-day Hellenic festival will
be a Quebecois-Greek celebration and a “Montreal” Mediterranean
experience for all to enjoy.
